Program - Nick Killian
Sunrise Rotary Member
Nick was conceived in Alaska and born in Texas. He is proud to be a product of the 2 largest states in the US.

When Nick was a child became a scout through the Glen Loomis and Trinty Lutheran schools. He went on to become an Eagle Scout. During 3 summers he was an Honor Guard on Mackinac Island where he stayed in barracks, gave tours around the park and raised and lowered flags. These events had a tremendous effect on his life that when college rolled around he attended Ferris to pursue a degree in architecture. What?

After 2 years of pushing a graphite pencil around he realized architecture wasn't his passion. As he attended college he worked renting canoes, backpack equipment and was a climbing instructor. He had so much fun doing that he decided to major in Outdoor Recreation. Because of that change in major, it led him right back to the Boyscouts.

He has changed people's perspective on being outdoors. Years later he found out because of his encouragement a young lady walked through the entire Appalachian Trail. Maybe he will get a chance to complete this trail on his own soon.
