Students with their bikes

2021 Secondary School Bicycle Share Project is Complete!

As Rotarians, we engage in international service to help make the world a better place. In that spirit, members from our Club have traveled to the Mangochi District of Malawi in 2016, 2017, and 2019 to help construct new school facilities. Club members continue to address the educational needs in Malawi through the 2021 “Secondary School Bicycle Share Project.” This project has provided bikes for transportation to secondary school, established a bicycle repair business for maintenance, and vocational repair training for interested students. The result of the project is helping students who live long distances from school regularly attend in a state of mind effective for learning, increase safety of students as they travel to school, and decrease drop out rates. Ultimately our goal is to lift up young women and men, offering them a better life through education.

We partner with the Warm Hearts Foundation—a non-profit organization headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI, Norte Cycling of Traverse City, Elk Rapids Rotary Club, and Limbe Rotary Club in Malawi.
