Guest Speaker: Mark Murphy, Northern Family Intervention Services.
Northern Family Intervention Services is committed to keeping children together with their families - safely. Working within the system with DHHS, the juvenile court system, CMH and others, they provide services for child and family - to identify and address family dynamics and trauma. To make that happen they are educating and supporting families with wraparound services so that they are enabled and supported. Services often include home based services for the child and the family from licensed professionals to identify issues and assist families in making healthy, productive life decisions. Additionally, they help teach budgeting, crisis planning, life skills, family structure decisions, and problem solving.
Mark walked attendees through an exercise to give us a glimpse of what it means to have to choose between, for example, family or money for food. Or even worse, many are forced to give up what they value the most. It was impactful. This “teaching family model” is successful. Outcomes prove that 87-90% of children after services remain in their own homes successfully.
Mark needs your awareness, understanding, board members, and guidance on fund development.
