Sunrise Foundation Accepting Mini-Grant Applications

Our Foundation is currently accepting mini-grant applications.

Grants must focus on a community priority as identified by the Rotary Club of Traverse Bay Sunrise Foundation. Grant cycles occur twice a year, with a total of $5,000 available each cycle. Grant requests must be submitted by April 30. Grants ranging from $100 to $1,000 may be awarded per grant cycle. The Rotary Club of Traverse Bay Sunrise Foundation Board is responsible for all funding decisions. Grants will be awarded to organizations located within Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Kalkaska, Benzie and Antrim counties. An applicant must be a school system, unit of government or have received a ruling from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that it is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) and is not a private foundation as defined by the IRS.

Bulletin Buddy Note-Taking Form (also at front desk)

At any time don't be surprised if a new member offers to bump a designated Bulletin Buddy for 50/50 sales or note-taking opportunities. We know you will happily step aside to enable their progress against new member orientation program (red badge).

If you wish to be added to the rotation please contact Nancy Thornton.

If a date you've been assigned is not convenient, we appreciate your initiative to exchange with a fellow Rotarian.

Meeting Notes & Announcements

Visiting Rotarians: Chris Etienne (Petoskey Rotary)

Guests: Maureen Fowler (Goodwill Industries)

50/50 Raffle: Becky Smits was our lucky winner

Announcements:

  • Randy talked about the July 2017 Malawi trip. The committee is looking for volunteers interested in a 2016 'pre-trip' and their expenses will, for the most part, be sponsored. Contact Randy if you are interested.
Weekly Program:

PDG Chris Etienne talked about her trip on a Polio eradication effort to Nigeria.  She shared many pictures and stories of the trip. This trip much different than her previous trip to India; only 13 on the Nigeria trip vice 100+ to India.  Nigeria has been polio free for 1 ½ years. Vaccination trip to an elementary school with 10,000 kids attending!  Polio eradication efforts are becoming smart in their efforts, using incentives to encourage vaccination.
