Bulletin Buddy Note-Taking Form (also at front desk)

At any time don't be surprised if a new member offers to bump a designated Bulletin Buddy for 50/50 sales or note-taking opportunities. We know you will happily step aside to enable their progress against new member orientation program (red badge).

If you wish to be added to the rotation please contact Nancy Thornton.

If a date you've been assigned is not convenient, we appreciate your initiative to exchange with a fellow Rotarian.

Splurge on a Chicago Weekend and help raise funds for Malawi Service Project

Paul Brink, the individual who brought us our selected Global Service Project - building a school in Malawi -- has generously donated the use of his downtown Chicago condominium as a silent auction item for upcoming Winter Social. (We are told that when they've donated this for other causes, they typically offer the condo for 3 nights and it usually raises between $800 - 1100.)

50 East Bellevue Condominium Association is located in the heart of Chicago’s fabulous Gold Coast. Just east of the building is Lake Shore Drive and Oak Street Beach. Oak Street itself has many and varied shops for your convenience, and it also serves as the beginning of Chicago’s Magnificent Mile where you will find The Hancock Building, Bloomingdales, Water Tower Place, Neiman Marcus and many other shops, just to name a few. Just west of the building is the ever popular Rush Street with its wonderful restaurants, bars and Mariano Park, which is located within a triangle that connects State Street and Rush Street at its north end.

The condo has two bedrooms and two baths so is ideal for two couples. It actually sleeps six when considering the fold-out couch. The winning bidder will need to check on dates but, aside from Holiday weekends, Paul believes they'll be able to accommodate most requests.

Celebrate Rotary's 111th Anniversary at our monthly happy hour

Just like TC Restaurant Week, our monthly happy hour gathering (Sunrise at Sunset) is a great way to check out someplace you may not have been.

This week is the 111th anniversary of Rotary International. It's a great reason to celebrate, so join us this Thursday after hours at Copper Falls Rok & Grille (corner of Garfield & Airport).

Nominate a student for the Life Leadership Conference

We're sure you know at least one outstanding high school junior who is bright, engaged and a promising future leader. Nominate them to attend the longest continuously running Rotary Youth Leadership Award program in North America . . . District 6290 Life Leadership Conference. It's a transforming experience and your best investment in our future. Our club provides a full scholarship for students to attend this amazing event.

Meet our newest member

He's a licensed pilot . . . certified scuba diver . . . and we welcomed him as our newest member at our February 17th meeting.

Win Big or Go Home!

Support the Rotary Foundation via our District 6290 Foundation 50/50 Raffle.
  1. Your $20 investment enters you for a chance to win up to $5,000!
  2. You and our club will receive Foundation donation credit for 50% of value of any tickets sold which helps keep our club eligible for receiving matching grants for projects like Backpacks for Kids.
  3. Better yet - if we sell at least one ticket per member, our club is entered into a drawing for additional funds that can be applied to grant-eligible projects. Last year two clubs won $1,250 each!
It's pretty much a win - win - win proposition. Craig is the keeper of the tickets and this is the last week they are available for purchase.

Prize drawings will take place at 3:30 p.m. on March 11, 2016

Join us for a night on the town at our Winter Social

This coming Saturday evening is our annual Winter Social to be held at The Franklin, the closing night of TC Restaurant Week.

The Franklin has once again offered us the privacy of their upper level dining room.

Cocktails at 6pm

Dinner at 7pm

Please sign up online (see link in our Events calendar) so we can give them an accurate headcount.

For those that are new to the club, we have a fun silent auction at our winter social. Members donate items which often include donations of fun experiences, like last year's Lebanese dinner from VIc & Georgia. Proceeds of the silent auction are directed to Rotary Foundation Annual Fund to help us achieve the required $100 per capita annual giving level making us eligible for matching grants. (Please note that the generous donation of Chicago condo is earmarked for the Malawi service project.) If you have something you'd like to donate, please contact Nancy.

Meet Chris Rogers (Classification Talk)
  • Chris is a Traverse City native. His mom is a teacher (Chris had her for 5th grade) and his Dad is an attorney.
  • He obtained a BA from the University of Michigan but was raised as a Spartan fan!
  • Red Shirt member of the U of M golf team for a few years
  • His early jobs involved shagging golf balls, being a filing clerk for a law firm and then selling golf clubs (he was his best customer).
  • First real job was in Washington DC for a tech company providing legal downloadable media for college kids. Turns out that illegal downloads were more popular!
  • The DC job got him interested in law and led him to complete Law School at the University of New Hampshire.
  • In 2009 he passed the bar in Illinois and then in 2010 in Michigan.
  • Came to work in Michigan and fell in love with Lindsey Jonkhoff. They are married and have two boys: Harvey (almost 3) and Carson (not yet 1).
  • Chris was recently named partner at Kuhn Rogers, PLC working with his father and specializing in Estates, Real Estate, Cottage Law and Business Succession Planning to name a few.
  • In addition to Rotary, Chris is active at the Central United Methodist Church, he works with Munson and Planned Giving, he’s on the Board of the TC Economic Club, and he helps out with many other golf and charity events around town.
  • He states that his official handicap is 2 but he says it’s more like a 4. Either way, I’d suggest that you get as many strokes as you can from him!
