Bulletin Buddy Note-Taking Form (also at front desk)

At any time don't be surprised if a new member offers to bump a designated Bulletin Buddy for 50/50 sales or note-taking opportunities. We know you will happily step aside to enable their progress against new member orientation program (red badge).

If you wish to be added to the rotation please contact Nancy Thornton.

If a date you've been assigned is not convenient, we appreciate your initiative to exchange with a fellow Rotarian.

  • The new name for the coal docks will be announced on June 10.

  • TBSR has awarded a total of $5,945 in mini grants this spring.  A total of $67,000 was requested in 37 proposals.  Grants were awarded to Forest Area Band Camp, Dream Team Disability Baseball, Alden Men’s Club Food Bank, Leelanau Early Childhood Development Commission, Traverse Life Skills, Angel Care Daycare and the Rock Youth Center.

Program
  • Fellow TBS Rotarian Tom Gilbert of TC Retreat Sober Living House

  • Tom shared his personal story of addiction and recovery and offered these statistics:

    • 23 million people in the U.S. are in active addiction

    • 1 in 10 is successful with treatment

    • For every one person who is addicted, four family members are intimately affected

  • Tom and his fellow Rotarians celebrated the previous night’s decision by the Traverse City Zoning Board of Appeals to allow the Sober Living House to operate legally.

  • The goal of the house is to provide a quiet, safe neighborhood in which six unrelated individuals can live together and in active recovery. Four are currently in residence.

  • Tom indicated that those addicted to alcohol or drugs don’t get addicted overnight, and their recovery doesn’t happen overnight either.

  • The rules of the house are sobriety, commitment to six months in residence and sex offenders and convicted arsonists are not allowed.

  • A Crowdfunding campaign is underway to raise $60,000 to pay down the mortgage debt. Tax-deductible contributions of any size are welcome: Gofundme.com/tcretreat
